Purple Caturra Mojito

Purple Caturra Mojito is an innovative specialty coffee produced by Rodrigo Sánchez Valencia and Claudia Samboni in Pitalito, Huila, Colombia. This unique lot showcases the Purple Caturra variety and is processed using the washed method, allowing the intrinsic characteristics of the coffee to shine through with exceptional clarity. Known for their experimental approach to coffee production, the producers have developed a coffee that delivers vibrant notes reminiscent of lime, mint, tropical fruit, and panela sweetness, creating a cup profile that evokes the refreshing character of a mojito while maintaining the elegance of a high-quality washed coffee. 

Pitalito is located in the department of Huila, Colombia's most celebrated coffee-growing region. Situated at elevations between approximately 1,400 and 2,000 metres above sea level, the area benefits from rich volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, and a temperate climate ideal for cultivating specialty coffee. These conditions promote slow cherry maturation, resulting in coffees with pronounced sweetness, bright acidity, and remarkable complexity. Huila has earned international recognition for consistently producing some of Colombia's most distinctive and award-winning coffees. 

Coffee was introduced to Colombia during the 18th century and gradually became one of the country's most important agricultural industries. By the early 20th century, coffee exports had become a major driver of economic growth, leading to the establishment of the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia. Today, Colombia is recognised as one of the world's leading producers of high-quality Arabica coffee.
