From a humble start in late 2005, we dreamt of elevating the quality of coffee in South Africa to that of the best in the world.
We decided that South Africans were long overdue to experience high-quality coffee done right; poured by professionals, using the highest-quality beans, and roasted with pride. To drive this dream, we opened Origin Coffee in De Waterkant, roasting the highest quality, speciality coffee in a timeless, working warehouse in Cape Town.
All of our coffees are hand-roasted right here, at the southernmost tip of Africa; where we have been instrumental in starting an epicentre of a new speciality coffee revolution.

One way to discover and celebrate our curated range of coffees is to visit our curated café where you can find perfectly poured brews, by knowledgeable and passionate coffee professionals, across the widest range of brewing methods.
We also offer our quality coffees and equipment online to experience exceptional coffee in your own home, as well as supply top venues across the country including cafés, restaurants, hotels or offices that want to serve their own exceptional coffee. As a coffee partner, we promise to help you pour our coffee at the same level as we would in our flagship café.
From the beginning, we believed that a cadre of top-quality baristas was critical to establishing a culture of high-quality coffee in South Africa. This is why Origin founded its barista academy to focus on in-depth training for world-class African baristas. And, after qualifying 3,500 baristas and 5 South African champions, we’ve successfully passed the torch to our new hugely expanded academy; the African School of Coffee.
After more than 19 years of industry experience, we’ve never believed more strongly that we can serve the best coffee and offer the most extraordinary coffee experiences in the world; right here in Africa - the birthplace of coffee.
