Our single-origin coffees are all packed into 250g bags straight from the roaster. For optimal freshness, if you select 1kg of a single-origin coffee, it will be shipped in 4 x 250g bags. 
Our blends and decaf are packed into both 250g and 1kg bags.

The Process

All cherry is hand-sorted before a pre-pulp float, underripe or damaged cherry is removed, along with any foreign objects. Once the cherry is sorted and cleaned, it is ready to be dried. The cherries are laid out evenly across raised beds, providing consistent airflow, and height, to prevent moisture and animals coming into contact with the cherry.The cherry is dried for 30 days, turned constantly when the sun is high and covered during the night. Once the cherry has dried, the now dried outer fruit is removed, and the coffee beans are ready to be organised for packing.

The Region

Following Muraho’s success of their coffee washing stations (CWS) in Nyamasheke District in their first year, they wanted to expand the regional flavour profiles they had to offer and look for a truly unique area of Rwanda. They set out to look for an area that not only has tremendous potential in producing high-quality coffee but where they could make a bigger impact through speciality coffee.
This led them to build Shyira CWS with the belief of making a positive influence in the area and producing a truly unique style and taste of coffee that differs from all other Rwandan coffees. Shyira was born in January 2017.

Muraho’s “Little Baby” Shyira is the smallest of all their CWS however it is the highest located known in Rwanda sitting at 1850m above sea level. Shyira is an hour drive up the hills from the township of Musanze (Ruhengeri). The weather conditions, soil type and its high-altitude lands makes this CWS an ideal setting for high-quality coffee processing and production. On the drive up to the CWS, when you reach on top of the Shyira hills, you will be met with a view that will take your breath away - the chain of volcanoes in between the beautiful beasts of Rwanda the Mountain Gorillas come from the waterfalls of the wonderful Gicice river.
