About this coffee

Yirgacheffe Banko Gotiti is a Grade 1 natural processed coffee from the Banko Gotiti washing station in the Gedeb district of Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. It is grown at elevations between 1,900 and 2,100 metres above sea level. The coffee is processed by sun-drying cherries on raised beds, which produces fruity and floral flavours. Tasting notes include orange blossomt, lemon curd, and berries with a honeyed sweetness and a silky, tea-like finish.

The region

The Banko Gotiti washing station is located in Gedeb, part of the Gedeo Zone in southern Ethiopia. The region is known for high-altitude coffee cultivation, rich volcanic soils, and a suitable climate for Arabica coffee. The cooperative includes around 300 smallholder farmers, who contribute to producing specialty coffee with consistent quality.

History of coffee in ETHIOPIA

The country is Africa's leading coffee producer and contributes roughly 17% of the global coffee market. Coffee is a major economic driver in Ethiopia, supporting millions of livelihoods and contributing significantly to foreign income.
