About this coffee

Taco Roll is a distinctive coffee produced as part of the El Placer Farms Projects, spanning the Quindío and Huila departments of Colombia. Crafted from carefully selected varietals—often including Castillo, Caturra, Tabi, and  Typica —this coffee is known for its playful and experimental processing methods, such as extended fermentation and anaerobic techniques. The result is a vibrant and expressive cup, with layered notes of tropical fruit, caramel, florals, and a sparkling acidity.

The region

The farms involved in the El Placer Projects are located in some of Colombia’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions. Quindío, part of the country’s famed Coffee Axis, offers rich volcanic soil and ideal elevations, while Huila is renowned for its microclimates and consistently high cup scores. Farmers here combine traditional cultivation with innovative post-harvest practices, producing traceable, small-lot coffees that reflect both terroir and creativity.

History of coffee in Colombia

Colombia’s coffee story dates back to the early 19th century and has grown into one of the world’s most iconic origins. The country’s diverse geography and commitment to quality have made it a powerhouse in the specialty market. Programmes supporting smallholders, regional traceability, and a strong internal coffee culture have ensured Colombia remains a global benchmark for excellence.
