We are beyond excited to announce our collaboration in the launch of the new African School of Coffee (ASC). 

This project brings together the depth of experience and Origin and two other leaders & pioneers in South African coffee – Truth and Tribe. 

All 3 companies have deeply invested in developing coffee skills and passion in South Africa. ASC is our next step in empowering people through coffee. This non-profit academy will, with broad support, be able to radically increase our impact.

Origin itself has, over more than 18 years, trained over 3,500 professional baristas who pour coffee across South Africa and beyond. Amongst those were 5 South African National Barista Champions, including Willem Pienaar (2007), Jose Vilandy (2008 – now head of Retention at Truth), Wayne Oberholzer (2012), Lovejoy Chirambasukwa (2013, now at Origin Johannesburg) and Winston Thomas (2017).
